Cardiologist appt and Memorial Day

First of all, we had our appointment with the pediatric cardiologist this morning. Camryn was very brave and well behaved, which earned her lots of compliments from all the staff and doctors. She did not like it when they put the blood pressure cuff on her arm, but she was nice and quiet while Dr. Frantz listened to her heart, and she fell asleep on the exam table during her echocardiogram! What a good little girl she is... we were so proud. So, it turns out that the murmur that the doctors have been hearing is a result of Camryn having pulmonary stenosis. It is a congenital heart defect. Basically, the valve between her right ventricle and pulmonary artery does not close properly due to an obstruction. Luckily, in her case the defect is very mild... Dr. Frantz does not anticipate that it will impact her life at all, cause any symptoms, or require treatment. He is going to re-check it in a year. We were disappointed to hear that she has an actual diagnosable condition and not just a functional murmur, but also very relieved to hear that this issue should not have an impact on her long term. Oh, and she is up to 10 lbs now!

Besides that, no big news. We had a great time at Lake Gaston this past weekend. It was Camryn's first trip (of many) to the lake, and she did great. She took a lot of naps by the lake in BOB, and also in the arms of many smitten Sheltons! Here are some pictures:

Updates from this week

Last Sunday was my first Mother's Day, and it was great. Andy and Camryn gave me a necklace that says "Mom" on it, and a really sweet card. They picked them out together. Here is the necklace:I just love it.

On Wednesday, Camryn had her two week checkup. She weighed 9lb 3oz, which the doctor said was phenomenal (almost a pound heavier than her birth weight), and was 21.25" long (0.75" longer than at birth). He heard a very minor heart murmur, which is apparently nothing to be concerned about. We are having it double checked by a cardiologist next week, but just as a precaution according to Dr. Dupuy. Other than that, she checked out healthy and perfect! Yay!

On Thursday, Camryn got to meet her great Aunt Cath! We did all sorts of fun things including making a mold of her foot painting pottery. It was a fun two days. Here is a picture of the goodbye kisses: :-)
Yesterday we spent the day at the Wasdell's by the pool and cooking out. It was a get-together for Andy's indoor soccer team, and we had a great time. When we got home, it was time for Camryn's first "real" bath (since her umbilical cord fell off a couple of days ago). We were not sure how it would go, but she loved it!

And a couple of others from this week just for fun:

What a wonderful week it has been

Andy had this week off, and the three of us spent it together getting used to being a family. We went shopping, went out to lunch, had leisurely breakfasts on the deck, and seemed to chat endlessly about this new stage of life we have entered. It has been a great week.

Andy and Camryn are out shopping for Mother's Day right now, so I am taking this opportunity to post some new pictures from the last few days. Here you go:

Today we are taking Miss Camryn to her first cookout! It is right down the street at Frank and Kristen's house, in celebration of Kristen graduating with her master's degree. They are expecting a baby in the fall, and will be announcing the sex at the cookout. It should be a fun afternoon.

One week old today!

I can hardly believe that it has been a week since Camryn's arrival. At the same time though, it seems like she has been here forever!

She is starting to get used to life at home. She is much more tolerant of diaper and clothes changes now, and she even had a sponge bath this morning with minimal crying. Baths are really the only time she cries, so it is a little bit distressing for Mom and Dad! We just want our little angel to be happy! :-) She is still sleeping very well at night. She is eating like a champ, so it will be fun to see her weight gain at her two week doctor appointment next week.

We went on our first hike yesterday! Toby and Lilly needed exercise, and Andy and I were craving some fresh air. We didn't go far, but it was nice to get out, here are a couple of pictures:

Our Perfect Little Angel

We are on day 5 and things really could not be going any better! Camryn is such a little angel. She has gotten to meet so many of the special people in our lives over the past few days, it has been wonderful. Here are some pictures of us leaving the hospital and of us since we've been home:
