First of all, we had our appointment with the pediatric cardiologist this morning.
Camryn was very brave and well behaved, which earned her lots of compliments from all the staff and doctors. She did not like it when they put the blood pressure cuff on her arm, but she was nice and quiet while Dr.
Frantz listened to her heart, and she fell asleep on the exam table during her
echocardiogram! What a good little girl she is... we were so proud. So, it turns out that the murmur that the doctors have been hearing is a result of
Camryn having pulmonary
stenosis. It is a congenital heart defect. Basically, the valve between her right ventricle and pulmonary artery does not close properly due to an obstruction. Luckily, in her case the defect is very mild... Dr.
Frantz does not anticipate that it will impact her life at all, cause any symptoms, or require treatment. He is going to re-check it in a year. We were disappointed to hear that she has an actual diagnosable condition and not just a functional murmur, but also very relieved to hear that this issue should not have an impact on her long term. Oh, and she is up to 10 lbs now!
Besides that, no big news. We had a great time at Lake Gaston this past weekend. It was Camryn's first trip (of many) to the lake, and she did great. She took a lot of naps by the lake in BOB, and also in the arms of many smitten Sheltons! Here are some pictures:
